Vision Objects extends its technology with shape and equation recognition

On top of simply handwriting recognition, it is now be possible to create solutions to:

  • Play with shape recognition (more than 20 shapes are supported, from simple circles, through polygons to stars): watch the video
  • Recognize and solve complex mathematical expressions like formulas (fractions, square roots, superscripts, integrals, etc), symbols (including Latin and Greek characters) and operations (such as arithmetic, trigonometry, vectors, sets, etc.): watch the video

Vision Objects wishes you a Happy New Year!

This year has once again been a year full of new experiences and opportunities for Vision Objects. New products, with the launch of MyScript Studio Forms Edition, new steps as we reached the milestone of 30 languages for natural handwriting recognition, new technologies with the creation of calculation and shape recognition and new challenges with the boom of iPads and other tablets (such as Android types).

Touch screens are now definitely part of everyone’s life and we keep working on making the touch experience even more intuitive and constructive through handwriting recognition.

With this is mind, we are planning to launch new applications running on iOS and Android, like MyScript Notes Mobile early in 2011.

Projects you will have the opportunity to discover at trade shows, as Vision Objects will be exhibiting (for the first time) at the CES (Las Vegas) and at the Bett show (London), in January. We hope to see you there!

In the meantime, all the Vision Objects’ team wishes you once again a Happy New Year full of happiness and handwriting experiences ;)

Calculator

Vision Objects’ Stylus developers (Edgard, Juliette, Mathieu and Robin) have spent the last few months developing the calculator module which is available on MyScript Stylus 3.2. We all knew they were working on it, and we have been really excited to get the app in our hands!

So let’s have a look at the calculator functionalities:
The calculator recognizes square roots, powers, pi symbols and is able to make complex calculations as shown below. You can use the calculator as a proper calculator, putting the equal sign at the end of your calculation or as a solver, putting a question mark wherever you want the Calculator to find the unknown variable:

Here, I have written a question mark because I wanted the calculator to find the missing number for a result of 5. Here is the answer:

You can choose between different modes: automatic or non automatic calculation.

There is no need to explain what the resulting market applications are: it’s a really great tool for classrooms fitted with Interactive Whiteboards, MIDs or graphic tablets with PCs for instance.

To learn more about the Calculator and MyScript Stylus in general, watch the video demo:

You would like to test it? Download the app from our website, and try out the 30-day free trial!
